A Letterkenny Town Councillor has said the town has been robbed of a piece of its heritage with news that planning permission has been granted for the demolition of the old Oatfield Factory building.
It is now expected that the sites owners Zopitar Ltd will begin demolition work within weeks.
Hoarding will be erected until such time as a new building is developed with concerns expressed that hoarding in the interim could become a long term fixture attracting graffiti and posters.
There are also concerns about what impact any new development would have on an already busy junction.
Councillor Dessie Larkin says neither of these concerns have been clearly addressed:
