The latest survey in the Anti-Litter League by business group Irish Business Against Litter shows Letterkenny to be ‘cleaner than European norms’.
This is a vast improvement on its ‘littered’ ranking back in 2011, when it was last in the League.
Of 42 towns and cities surveyed this summer, the town is in 20th position. IBAL has warned that vacant properties in towns are a growing concern, despite continued progress on litter nationwide.
The there has been strong criticism of the league locally with some saying the results are irrelevant and unfair – but Dr. Tom Cavanagh, Chairman of IBAL says he is the glad the town entered anyway:
