An Independent Donegal Councillor says there needs to be a campaign for the reinstatement of Special Instance Funding and Local Improvement Schemes.
Cllr John Campbell was speaking after planning notices appeared in the press regarding Fintra Bridge, a project prioritised by the Donegal Electoral Area Committee. He says this is a project which the council has fast tracked with the intention of using Special Instance money, but earlier this year it was dropped by Minister Leo Varadkar, a move which was copperfastened in the budget.
Cllr Campbell says the council is doing all it can to get this project completed, but in the absense of funding mechanisms, he’s not confident it will come to fruition…………
