Garda fraud investigation continues after Donegal GAA is scammed

The Donegal GAA County Board has confirmed that gardai have launched a fraud investigation after almost 18,000 euro was taken in an internet scam.
It’s understood that an official’s e-mail address was hacked, and an instruction was sent to a staff member to transfer 15,000 pounds sterling to a bank account in Reading in the UK.
The fraud was reported within hours of the transaction, but the UK account was cleared out.
GAA correspondent Tom Comack, who broke the story in today’s Donegal Democrat, told Greg Hughes on the Shaun Doherty Show today that it seems the chances of recovering the money are fading….
