Dozens of women attended a meeting in Letterkenny today which was aimed at encouraging more women to get involved in politics.
Currently in the county all the elected Deputies and Senators are male, while there are only two female representatives on Donegal County Council.
The event was hosted by current and former female politicians such as Mary Coughlan, Cora Harvey, Marian Harkin, Rena Donaghey, Marie Therese Gallagher and Susan O Keefe.

Meanwhile, former Tanaiste Mary Coughlan said it’s vital that women become more involved in politics in Ireland.
The former Fianna Fail representative said there is no reason why women should be under represented here.
