Police in Derry confirm that bomb left on bus yesterday evening was viable

psniPolice have confirmed that a device left on an bus in Derry last night was viable.
A man boarded a bus at around 6pm in the Ballymagroarty area and ordered the driver to take a bomb to Strand Road PSNI station.
The bus was then abandoned by the driver on Northland Road.
Over 40 families in the Foyle Springs area were evacuated from their homes as a result, and were only allowed to return at 330am this morning.
Local Cllr John Boyle, who lives in the area, has condemned the incident. He says it’s a flashback to the horror tactics used during the troubles….


Meanwhile, the bus driver has been praised for her “bravery”.
Ch Supt Stephen Cargin said that the lady drivers actions saved lives:
