Vigilence advised after spate of heating oil thefts in South Inishowen

People are being urged to become nosey neighbours after it emerged that thousands of euro worth of home heating oil has been stolen in the South Inishowen area in recent days.
Cllr Paul Canning says oil was stolen from the local national school in Newtowncunningham, and he’s also aware of thefts from tanks at homes in Ballybegley, Ballylawn and Moneygreggan.
He’s urging people to take measures including locking tanks, closing gates and extend dog leads to cover oil tanks.
Cllr Canning says it’s a sad day in rural Donegal that people have to be asked to do this, but these measures are necessary……………
