Donegal County Council to ask when restricted salmon rivers can be reopened

Donegal County Council is being asked to contact Inland Fisheries Ireland to ask when they plan to reopen salmon fishing rivers in the county which are currently either closed or limited to catch and release.
The call is coming from Deputy Mayor Michael Mc Bride, who says this is potentially a major source of tourism revenue.
Council officials have indicated that they will contact IFI to determine the situation, particularly as salmon fishing is an important component of the Malin Waters tourism initiativer launched last year.
The motion will be ratified at a reconvened council meeting to be held shortly.
Cllr Mc Bride says the response from officials and members has been positive……….
