Protection For Basking Sharks

A Donegal based Irish Basking Shark Study Group has requested Minister of Arts, Heritage, Gaelteacht and the Islands, Jimmy Deenihan to provide legal protection to basking sharks.  Hundreds of Basking Sharks have been spotted in Irish Waters in recent weeks with several spotted in Donegal. The Shaun Doherty Show  is joined by Emmett  Johnson who heads up the research project , he says that although the sharks are the second largest fish in the world and have no legal protection under Irish law.
