Four Donegal Athletes to compete at Euro Team Championships

athletics 0614Four Donegal Athletes have been named in the Ireland team for the European Team Championships 1st League in Tallinn, Estonia from the 21st-22nd of June.
Irish indoor 800m recorder holder Mark English from Letterkenny will run the 800 metres, Finn Valley’s Dempsey Mc Guigan has been named in the hammer, Lifford’s Ann Marie Mc Gylnn will run in the 3000 metres and Finn Valley’s Tori Pena will compete in the Pole Vault.
The Irish team will face Estonia, Belarus, Greece, Norway, Romania, Portugal, Finland, Belgium, Hungary, Slovenia and Lithuania during the two-day competition, with the top three finishing teams earning a promotion to the following year’s Super League.
Ireland hosted the team championships last year in Dublin with the Irish team achieving its highest ever placing finishing seventh.
With one of the strongest teams in recent years set to line out Ireland will be targeting a top five position at the 2014 event in Estonia.
