35 new jobs are to be created by Seagate in Derry.
The company has comfirmed a £34.7million investment in a major research and development project.
Seagate says it will involve the development of cutting-edge, heat assisted magnetic recording technology, and will require a team of 178 highly qualified staff.
This, they say means an extra 35 highly skilled R&D engineers will have to be employed.
The announcement has been welcomed in the city, coming as it does after news yesterday that Foyle has the highest unemployment of all 650 Westminister constituencies.
