An investigation is getting underway this morning into the death of an elderly woman in a house fire in Creeslough.
The fire was reported on the Ballyboes Road shortly before 2 o’clock this morning.
The woman, who was in her 70s was brought out of the building, but pronounced dead.
Gardai say they will be looking into the cause of the blaze, and are awaiting a report from the fire service, but it’s understood they believe the fire started accidentally.

Gardaí at Milford are investigating a fatal house fire which occurred at Ballyboes, Creeslough, Donegal shortly after 1a.m. this morning Tuesday 30th December, 2014. Emergency services responded to a call at this location. The body of a female in her 70s, who lived alone, was recovered from the house, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been removed to Letterkenny General Hospital. The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified. A post mortem will take place this morning. The scene remains preserved pending a Garda technical examination. Investigations are continuing.
