Sinn Féin spokesperson on Equality, Pádraig Mac Lochlainn TD, has welcomed the Marriage Equality Bill with open arms today and commended all those who campaigned and marched for their rights.
The Dail’s heard calls for May 23rd to be declared a bank holiday – in honour of the referendum on marriage equality.
The call came from one gay man in a letter to Donegal Deputy Padraig Mac Lochlainn, read in the Dáil today.
TDs have been debating laws to give effect to May’s referendum and allow full civil marriage for same-sex couples.
