It’s emerged Gola Island has been without a water supply for the past number of months with islanders who have been travelling out to the island during the winter months having to carry out their own water to the island.
A burst in the water main occurred 3 months ago and to date it hasn’t been repaired due the difficulty of accessing it under water but there have been moves to rectify the issue.
Councillor Micheal Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig is hopeful the water supply will be returned to the island in a few weeks:
