One of the biggest fundraising weekends of the year gets underway today. Relay for Life Donegal takes place in the grounds of Letterkenny Institute of Technology, with 31 teams taking part.
Relay for Life involves each team having at least one person walking laps of a track for 24 hours, with the team members augmented by thousands of people who visit and walk some laps over the course of the weekend.
Hundreds of cancer survivors and caregivers also attend.
This is the fifth year of the event. In its first year, 2012, Donegal had the biggest Relay for Life in Europe, and it remains the biggest ever debut relay outside the US with 70 teams.
