Lifford Strabane AC host Riverine 10k

Riverine 10K 2016-1
Lifford Strabane AC will host its annual Riverine 10K on Sunday 7th August with a start time of 10.00am. In its fourth year, the cross border 10K was the precursor to the hugely successful Strabane Lifford Half Marathon which this year attracted 1500 entrants. The 10K course is recognised as one of the flattest and fastest courses around and has traditionally attracted big numbers seeking fast times.
The mens course record of 30.39 was set last year by Raheny’s Freddie Situk, while Ann Marie McGlynn holds the womens course record of 34.41 set in 2014. With bonus prizes of €150 for breaking the course record as well as generous cash prizes across a range of categories, the event is sure to attract a quality field again this year.
At this time of year, many athletes are looking for something more than the traditional 5K and indeed, the step up to 10K provides that challenge as well as preparation for forthcoming events such as the Donegal Marathon.
Pre registration for the event is only €10 through the Athletics Ireland on line portal with late entry of €15 on the day. Further information available through the Riverine 10K Facebook page or contact Brendan O’Donnell on 086-6007847
