The Justice Minister is being warned of the potential for mass evictions for homeowners in their 60s who will be unable to pay their mortgage repayments.
A letter seen by the Irish Independent shows insolvency group IRS Ireland telling Jim O’Callaghan thousands of older homeowners are in arrears on their mortgage repayments, describing the situation as ‘dire’.
It proposes the State set up a buy back fund to get on top of the issue.
