It’s as you were at the bottom of the Premier Division table after Finn Harps, Wexford Youths and Longford Town all lost on Friday night.
Harps lost for a fifth game on the bounce when second half goals from Sean Boyd (53) and substitute Dean Clarke (79) gave Shamrock Rovers the points at Finn Park.
The visitors deserved the points, but this game was delicately poised up until Boyd’s opener.
Harps had played well in the first half and should have been in front just after the half hour when Ruairí Keating’s effort was pushed wide by keeper Craig Hyland. From the resultant corner, Keating was almost in again but his shot at the near post went wide.
Rovers however, upped their game after the break and once they went in front, they controlled this game. Clarke’s second killed off any hopes Harps had of snatching something from the game.
Harps fans will at least have been happy to see Wexford lost out at home to Dundalk (1-0) while Longford were beaten 5-2 at Cork City.
