There could be a potential strike at Letterkenny University Hospital.
SIPTU has released its initial list of hospitals to be included in national strike ballot with Letterkenny University Hospital and Sligo Regional Hospital included.
This comes as numbers awaiting admission at Letterkenny University Hospital are on the rise again.
SIPTU members working as support staff in at least 40 hospitals across the country will begin a ballot for strike action on Monday, 23rd January with Letterkenny University Hostpial included in the initial list.
In a statement SIPTU Health Division Organiser, Paul Bell said that the hospitals to be balloted have been selected due to members’ belief that the issues in dispute are particularly acute in these facilities.
SIPTU say that the failure of the HSE and Department of Health to resolve a number of issues has led to a situation where members have been forced to contemplate strike action.
The balloting process will commence on the 23rd January with the result scheduled to be announced on Monday, 13th February – to allow time for the HSE and Department of Health to address all the outstanding issues of concern.
