Pringle to move bill seeking recognition of social rights in the constitution


Donegal Deputy Thomas Pringle is spearheading a bid to have a number of social rights recognised in the constitution.
He will move a private members bill in the Dail addressing the right to housing, healthcare, education and workers’ rights among others, and seeking to enshrine these rights in the Constitution via a referendum.
It’s the lynchpin of a joint initiative involving Deputy Pringle, the Peter McVerry Trust and the National Organisation of the Unemployed.
Speaking ahead of the formal launch of the initiaive today, Deputy Pringle says the idea is to include measures which will prevent future housing crises, and also protect other social rights………..
