Detectives investigating assault on young man in Newtownstewart

 

Detectives investigating an assault on a 20-year-old man in Newtownstewart are appealing for witnesses.
The assault happened sometime between 5am and 5.30am during the early hours of Sunday morning last.
In a statement, Detective Constable Brian St Ledger said that the 20-year-old male was taken to hospital with head injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.
Police in Strabane have appealed for anyone who may have been in the Avery Park area of the town and who may have witnessed the incident to contact them at Strabane on 101.
Detectives investigating the assault arrested a 24-year-old male on suspicion of GBH with intent.
He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
