Five roads remains closed in Derry and Strabane following August’s floods


The overall cost of flood repair work carried out to date across the Derry City and Strabane District Council area stands at £2.5million, with the total cost estimated to reach £11 million.
More than 200 roads in the North were closed or impacted as a result of the flash flooding that hit the North West in August.
Five roads across the Derry City and Strabane District Council area remain closed.
Almost 90 bridges have been identified as being in need of repair with repair work on the Ballynameen Brdige in Claudy expected to take 7 months.
More than 2,100 metres of flood defences damaged have now been repaired with a number of studies due to be carried out to help identify if any viable flood alleviation works may be taken forward.
