A Donegal Deputy has told the Dail that problems with the Island Fisheries (Heritage Licence) Bill that came before the Dail yesterday can be addressed.
Leass Ceann Comhairle Pat the Cop Gallagher is backing the Sinn Fein bill to give island communities in Donegal and countrywide special licences.
The bill says special provisions should be made to save the culture and heritage of the fishing communities.
Minister Andrew Doyle identified a number of issues with the draft bill, including questions about its compliance with EU legislation.
However, Deputy Gallagher says while he was an MEP, the parliament accepted a report calling for such a measure to be incorporated into the policy.
He says everyone is willing to work to address those issues……..
