18 elderly patients awaited admission for over 24 hours at LUH

18 patients over the age of 75 were left waiting to be admitted to Letterkenny University Hospital for over 24 hours in 2017, according to new figures from the HSE.
This is despite the HSE having a 24-hour target for seeing those over the age of 75.
Donegal Deputy Pearse Doherty says while it’s unacceptable to leave anyone waiting for a bed for that length of time, it’s particularly concerning when it’s an elderly patient who may need the most urgent care.
