Donegal relegated to Division 2 following draw with Mayo


Donegal will play in Division 2 of the National Football league next year following a draw with Mayo today in MacCumhaill Park in Ballybofey in a game that finished 0-13 v 0-13.
It was a tense affair that Mayo started well, leading by 0-05 v 0-01 after 10 minutes of play.
Donegal came back and drew level on 20 minutes. They went ahead and kept the lead from there until the dying minutes of the game.
The Connacht side came to within a point halfway through the second half, however Donegal were able to extend their lead again out to 3 points, 0-13 v 0-10.
It was a 1 point game with 2 minutes of injury time played, and a Patrick McBrearty chance fell into the hands of the Mayo goalkeeper. From that, Kevin McLoughlin scored the point for Mayo that drew them level, which was enough to keep them in Division 1.
