Petition launched in support of Kilcar’s ‘Ricky from the chippy’

Hundreds of people have signed a petition in support of a man reportedly forced from his home in Kilcar by immigration officials.
Vikram Sharma, known also as Ricky, had become an active member of the community of Kilcar having got involved in local festivals, Tidy Towns and many community events.
As part of a campaign supporting Ricky a online petition was created which described Ricky as ‘having gained the respect and trust of the people of Kilcar through the years he has lived there and is known as a valued member of the community’
Among those offering support is Kilcar and Donegal GAA star Mark McHugh who urged people to sign the petition. On Twitter he said ‘A local lad who had been met in the parish with open arms only for them to be closed’
