UK and EU will hold substantive discussions on the Irish border


The UK leader has announced dedicated talks are beginning with the EU to decide how the Irish border will operate after Brexit.
The British government clashed with the European Commission over its ‘backstop’ proposal which would have seen Northern Ireland remain part of the single market if nothing else was agreed.
Theresa May said that would be unacceptable, and confirmed this afternoon that talks will proceed……….
