Kensington Palace earlier confirmed the happy news on Twitter: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs. The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz.

Kensington Palace tweeted on Monday morning (April 23) that the Duchess of Cambridge was taken to the private Lindo wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London as she prepared to welcome her third baby with her husband Prince William.
“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London earlier this morning in the early stages of labour,” the statement read.
“The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge.”

The baby Prince joins the couple’s two children Prince George and Princess Charlotte and will be fifth in line to the throne after Princes Charles, William and George, and Princess Charlotte.
Prince Harry, who was fifth in line to the throne, moves to sixth in line.
The royal baby has arrived just over three-and-a-half weeks before the royal wedding. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are due to wed in Windsor on Saturday May 19.
The Duchess of Cambridge is expected to attend. Prince George and Princess Charlotte are tipped to be page boy and bridesmaid at the ceremony in St George’s Chapel. Prince William is expected to be Prince Harry’s best man.
