St Brigid’s and Scoil Iosagain taste victory at the Aviva


There was success for Inishowen primary schools at this weeks SPAR FAI 5’s National Finals at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
In the Girls ‘A’ Cup for small schools, the winners were St Brigid’s National School in Glenmakee, Carndonagh.
St Brigid’s Ellie Long was named Player of the Tournament in the ‘A’ Cup.
The rest of the team was made up of Samantha McLaughlin, Imogen Diver, Aoife Kelly, Erin Grant, Seaneen Crumlish and Ailish Doherty.
Inishowen’s second success came in the form of Scoil Iosagain, Buncrana who won the Girls ‘C’ Cup for large schools.
Jodie Loughrey was name the Player of the Tournament in that section.
The eight players on the team were Leah Clinton, Ciara McGee, Heidi Gill, Keri Loughrey (capt.), Jodie Loughrey, Zoe Duffy, Bria McGilloway and Orla Grant.
Donegal had further representation as the Boys from St Oran’s Cockhill, the Girls from Scoil Chróine Dungloe and the Boys from Scoil Íosagáin Buncana were all there as Ulster Champions and performed bravely.
2018’s competition saw 31,728 children take part, with 1,528 schools competing from all around the country. The competition, which is being sponsored for the fourth year by SPAR, saw 13 counties represented in the National Finals on Wednesday.
