Coast Guard tasked to two separate incidents in matter of hours


Killybegs Coast Guard are warning people to be vigilant in and around the water after being tasked to two separate call outs in a matter of hours.
Yesterday morning, the crew were tasked by Malin Head Coast Guard to assist a yacht just off Killybegs Harbour, took it under tow and returned it safely to shore.
The two people on board had their lifejackets on which were fitted with personal location beacons.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident last evening, the crew were tasked to a report of a missing swimmer at Rossnowlagh Beach but were stood down on route as the swimmer had returned safely to shore.
Shane McCrudden from Killybegs Coast Guard says with the good weather comes a heightened risk of emergencies at the sea and is urging people to be mindful of that:
