Concerns heighten at potential implications of Brexit


Senior Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg has come under fire for suggesting people seeking to cross the border post-Brexit would be subject to inspections similar to those during the troubles.
Ms Hannah described the comments as “pig ignorant”, and a disturbing warning about the aspirations of extreme Brexiteers.
She added “it’s offensive that a senior politician would use The Troubles as a benchmark for solving the border issue”.
She continued to say that comment’s like Rees-Mogg’s illustrate how extreme-brexiteers think a hard border, which slices through peoples lives, is acceptable as collateral damage for their image of Brexit.
Meanwhile, a UCC economist says a no-deal Brexit threatens to knock Ireland back into recession next year.
Dr. Declan Jordan says with just seven months to go, there’s little evidence the British Government will agree on a deal with the EU.
He says the latest research shows that among EU partners, only Irish regions are as exposed as UK areas to a no-deal Brexit.
Dr. Jordan says the outlook isn’t good for Ireland on the issue…………
