Strabane businesses forced to close following ‘shocking’ incidents

 

Investigations are continuing following a number of incidents in Strabane earlier this week during which a man was arrested and a number of offensive weapons seized.
Police confirmed that officers were dispatched to the Derry Road area of the town on Monday upon receiving information that violence could ensue due to a fall out among two groups.
As a result one man was arrested and an offensive weapon seized, additional weapons were seized later that evening in close proximity to the Chapel on the Derry Road.
A number of businesses in the town closed on Monday as a precautionary measure following an incident at Lepers Brae which resulted in minor disorder.
Strabane Chamber of Commerce President, Martin Gallen says a meeting is due to take place next week to discuss an action plan to prevent further occurrences:
