Concern has been expressed that the Irish fishing sector will not be able to sustain proposed cuts to the mackerel quota.
The International Council for Exploration of the Sea has recommended a 61% cut to mackerel quota for 2019.
Donegal Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher says immediate action needs to be taken by the Irish Government to prevent such a proposal being adopted.
