Arson suspected in Moville Asylum Seeker Hotel Blaze

There is shock and anger at the news that extensive damage was caused to The Caiseal Mara Hotel in an overnight fire.
A man in his 50s was taken to hospital for treatment for suspected smoke inhalation.
The premises was due to house up to 100 Asylum Seekers as a Direct Provision Centre. With extensive damaged caused to the hotel, it’s not yet clear if those plans can go ahead.
A public meeting to discuss a welcoming party for the Asylum Seekers was scheduled for the town on Sunday afternoon, it is going ahead.
Gardai are seeking witnesses to any suspicious activity on Foyle Street before the blaze started at around 4.30am in the early hours of Sunday morning and issued the following appeal:
Gardaí in Buncrana are investigating all circumstances surrounding a fire that occurred at a hotel on Foyle Street, Moville, Co. Donegal this morning the 25th of November 2018 at approx. 4.30am. One male in his 50s was taken to Letterkenny Hospital for treatment, and there has been extensive damage to the premises.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, anyone with information or anyone that was in the area that may have seen suspicious activity on Foyle Street, Moville, Co Donegal this morning prior or after the fire to contact Buncrana Garda Station on (074) 9320540 the Garda Confidential Line or any Garda Station.
