Most NI cervical smear test recalls are in Western Trust Area

86 women have been recalled for cervical smear tests in Northern Ireland following concerns in variances in the reporting of the tests.
Of those recalled, the highest proportion, 66 are from the Western Trust area which comprises of the counties Tyrone, Derry and Fermanagh.
66 women from the Western Trust area are among 86 women from Northern Ireland being called for a repeat smear test.
West Tyrone MLA Michaela Boyle says this is a matter of deep concern for those involved.
The Western Trust say they are being recalled as a precautionary measure.
The West Tyrone MLA says she understands the review of the cervical smear tests relates to those carried out in April and June of last year.
She says it is vital that affected women do not face undue delay in receiving a repeat test.
