Sinn Fein is calling for a rent tax relief following the latest Daft.ie report which revealed the average rent in Ireland is now €1,300, at a time when the number of available properties is at an all time low.
The average rent in Donegal is up 8.5% compared to the same period last year.
Renting a one bedroom apartment in the county is now €454 while a mortgage for the same property would cost €193 per month.
The party’s Finance Spokesperson and Donegal Deputy Pearse Doherty says many are forced to pay the high rents as they struggle to get on the property ladder.
He says it is about time the Government provided a solution:
