Funding granted for sensory garden at Letterkenny school

It’s anticipated that a planned sensory garden for Woodlands National School in Letterkenny will do wonders for the entire school community.
The garden project has been approved by the Department’s Building Unit under its Additional Accommodation programme.
In a statement, Education Minister Joe McHugh said:
“The idea of Woodlands NS in Letterkenny to create a sensory garden is brilliant and I am glad the Department of Education and Skills is supporting it,” Minister McHugh said.
“It isn’t everyday we are able to give the green light for something like this. It is a real bonus for all the pupils, as well as the staff and I have no doubt that it will leave a long and lasting impression on everyone associated with the school.”
Minister McHugh said: “We hear a lot about wellbeing, both in life and in education these days, and I’m sure a space like this will give everyone connected to the school a lift every time they see it.
“Best of luck to the school and to principal Patricia Slevin for having the foresight to see the benefits that a sensory garden can bring.”
