Opposition grows over potential mining plans in south Donegal

 

There’s widespread opposition to any proposals that would involve prospecting or mining for gold in the Donegal Town area.
It follows a public meeting this week with over 70 residents voicing serious concerns about the issue.
The meeting, was organised by the Save the Hills of Donegal group,its spokesman, Denis Slevin says there are genuine fears the proposals would impact both the environment and people’s health.
He says the meeting was called after representatives of a company were seen taking soil samples from ground in the area……..
