Disappointment as Carrigart-Downings path plans rejected


 
An Bord Pleanala have refused permission to construct a footpath and cycle track from Carrigart to Downings.
In 2011, a number of interseted groups met with Donegal County Council engineers and Udaras na Gaeltachta to discuss the plans for a foot and cycle path, which would provide pedestrians a safer alternative to using the road.
Funding was secured for surveys and reports and the council were prepared to submit an application for funding to construct the project this year.
Former Donegal County Councillor Noel McBride, who has been involved in the planning says the refusal is disappointing for the people of Mevagh parish and the many visitors to the area:
