No relegation in Donegal All County Leagues

There will be no major change made to the structure of the Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure Donegal Senior Championship this year, however, with Covid looming the County Committee may increase the teams involved in the relegation play offs from four to eight.

The adjustment could come into play if Covid is having an impact on the championship and it will give teams an extra chance to avoid relegation.

So if a team finishes in the bottom half of the championship they could go to relegation play offs and the top eight go to quarter finals.

This proposal still has to be agreed by the clubs.

Donegal GAA will also write to the Ulster Council to seek a delay to the start of the Ulster Club Championship.

Meanwhile it was also decided there will be no relegation from Divisions, 1, 2 and 3 this year but there will be promotion from Divisions 2, 3 and 4.

The committee came to the decision with the campaigns this year in a consent battle with postponed games under Covid.

In 2022 there will be 12 teams in Division 1, 10 in Division 2, 10 in Division 3 and 8 or 9 in Division 4.
