The new COVID-19 vaccination satellite centre in Burtonport will open on Thursday, with Saolta saying it will operate on at least one day a week after that, with more sessions being offered subject to demand,
The facility is located in St Columba’s Community Centre.
Saolta say the Burtonport centre will be staffed and managed by the LYIT vaccination centre in Letterkenny and will operate one or more days per week, depending on demand.
They say the new centre will supplement the vaccination work being carried out in Letterkenny, as well as by GPs and pharmacies.
HSE spokesperson Cara O’Neill says the opening of the vaccination centre in Burtonport is another important step in the rollout of the vaccine programme in Donegal, particularly as it will greatly improve access to the vaccine for people living in this more rural part of Donegal.
She’s urging everyone in the eligible age cohorts who hasn’t already done so to get the vaccine.”
The centre is now offering walk-in appointments on Thursday September 9th from 11am to 3pm, with first Pfizer doses anyone unvaccinated aged 12 or over, and second Pfizer doses being provided for anyone who received their first dose before August 20th.
