Garda Peter McGee to be put forward for National Bravery Award

 

Donegal’s Chief Superintendent is to put Garda Peter McGee forward for a National Bravery Award.

Garda McGee from Letterkenny Garda Station has been hailed a hero in recent days after saving a woman from the River Swilly last week.

Garda McGee entered the water at the Port Bridge to help the woman and held to the wall of a tunnel under the bridge until further assistance arrived.

Gardai say his swift actions without a doubt prevented tragedy.

Chair of the Donegal Joint Policing Committee says it’s a fitting tribute for Garda McGee to be nominated for such an accolade:
