A senior official with Saolta is urging those who are not vaccinated to do so, saying the mortality rate in people over 45 admitted to Intensive Care is in the region of 50%.
Professor John Bates is the groups Clinical Lead for Critical Care.
He says while the situation has stabilised across the region, there have been high numbers at Letterkenny University Hospital, and transfers from Letterkenny to Galway have continued as deemed necessary.
