UK proposing border checks for non-Irish EU citizens

The UK’s proposing to make non-Irish EU citizens apply for a permit before crossing the border into Northern Ireland.

The proposed new law would come into force in 2025, and is to apply across the European Economic Area.

Yesterday MPs on the Northern Ireland committee in Westminster were told checks would not take place at border crossings.
