Packie Bonner and Team McGinley win Irish Legends Pro-Am

Irish Legends week hosted by the McGinley Foundation at Rosapenna Golf Resort started on Tuesday with the Pro-Am event on the Old Tom Morris course in windy but sunny conditions.

Donegal’s own Packie Bonner would take the honours in the individual category.

The former Republic of Ireland and Celtic goalkeeper would finish with 41 points, five clear of TV presenter Georgie Bingham.

Another International stopper Pat Jennings finished third alongside Snooker star Ken Doherty.

Packie spoke with Conor McNamara after his win round where he spoke of his love of Donegal’s links and about playing alongside Paul McGinley:

Bonner’s performance helped host Paul McGinley to win the outright event. Team McGinley finished with 92 points, two clear of Team Coceres, lead by Argentine Jose Coeres and celebrity Danny O’Carroll.

The Irish Legends continues on Thursday with the first round of the tour event.
