Spraying over English sign names “not the way to start the conversation”

Discussions regarding the removal of English place names from road signs have again been sparked.

This follows recent instances of people spray painting over the English place names on signposts, leaving only the original Irish visible.

Cllr Michael McClafferty says such actions solves nothing at all, apart from putting pressure on the council and TII’s resources for new signs when required, often with a long wait before signs can be replaced.
