Donegal woman confirmed as Athletics Ireland’s new Director of Competition

Athletics Ireland has confirmed that Geraldine Stewart is the new body’s new Director of Competition. Ger will start the role from the 1st of September 2022.

Ger is a native of Donegal Town, and has worked in the area of Health, Fitness and Adult Education for the past twenty years. Ger has won numerous national titles in Shot Putt, competed internationally and continues to compete today. She has coached athletes at underage and senior level.

Ger has been working with Athletics Ireland in the Competition Department since April 2022.

Speaking at the announcement this morning,  Ger said she is looking forward to working with everyone involved to ensure national competitions are delivered to the highest standard at every level.

Athletics Ireland is delighted to announce Geraldine (Ger) Stewart as the new Director of Competition. Ger will start the role from the 1st of September 2022.

Our recent success in international competition shows the importance of building a strong competitive environment from Juvenile to Senior level.”
