Talks on a new public sector pay deal have continued throughout the night.
Discussions between trade union groups and government officials began at lunchtime yesterday at the Workplace Relations Commission.
Unions had previously rejected an offer of a 5% pay rise for public servants, saying it wasn’t enough to combat the spiralling cost-of-living.
A number of unions, including those representing teachers and nurses, say if a deal is not done during this current round of talks then they will ballot their members for industrial action, up to and including strike.
