Donegal County Council says it’s turnkey acquisition process is continuing throughout the county.
In a report to members, officials say this competitive dialogue procurement process will result in a major capital investment in social housing, and initial projects have now completed.
In their report, officials say the turnkey acquisition model is a very effective mechanism enabling the Council to feed into the design of the proposal to ensure that the end product is suitable for the needs of social housing tenants.
Proposals are subject to meeting the requirements of the procurement process, planning, departmental approval and contract.
Meanwhile, as well as pursuing turnkey opportunities, Donegal County Council says it is planning to develop further projects on existing landbanks in various locations throughout the county.
Preliminary designs are underway for a number of these sites, with officials stressing they are
are informed by the pertaining approved social housing need at local level. Land negotiations
are ongoing to acquire additional lands for housing in areas of need.
There is an open advertisement on the Council’s website for expressions of interest for parcels of land, derelict sites / buildings with the potential to deliver social housing. Officials say a significant
response has been received, a number of suitable parcels of land have been identified and
the authority is progressing to conveyance stage on a number of land acquisitions.
