DMRT issues warning as nights fall

The Donegal Mountain Rescue Team are warning people as the nights fall to always let someone know where you are going and an estimated return time when setting off on a walk.

It’s after the team was tasked on two occasions over the past week.

On Wednesday last, the Donegal Mountain Rescue Team were tasked at 10:47am by Gardai in Buncrana to assist in locating a missing person.

Ground searches were being carried out when the individual was found and the team stood down at 6:01pm.

On Friday, the rescue service were alerted that a male was late returning to his vehicle in the Bluestacks area. Gardai then confirmed that they had made contact with him and there was no concern for his safety. The team were stood down at 6:32pm.

DMRT are advising people if heading out, pack warm clothing and a torch/head light, always let someone know where you are going, how long for and, if possible, let them know if you have been held up.
